Future development
Alta Wave is a future specialized solution for very high-energy wave regions. NoviOcean’s current product, pilot and commercialization pathway is Medi Wave 850H.
For illustration only — the actual design is shared in closer dialogues.
Where Alta sits
Alta Wave 1000H is a one-megawatt design for the coastlines where swell is heaviest — exposed Atlantic and Southern Ocean margins, where wave energy is at its highest and a structure has the most to survive.
It is a future specialized solution. NoviOcean’s engineering effort, capital and pilot programme are directed at Medi Wave 850H, the platform being built and validated now. Alta Wave rests on the same validated design principles and follows later, when a very high-energy site calls for it.
The design concept
In very high-energy regions the balance shifts. The wave system does most of the work, wind fills the gaps between weather systems, and solar plays the smallest part of the three.
The dominant source on this design — NoviOcean’s own wave system, sized for a megawatt-class platform.
Vertical-axis turbines sharing the same structure, the same mooring and the same cable, adding output when the swell eases between systems.
Marine photovoltaics on the deck. In the high-wave regions this unit is drawn for, the sun contributes least.

Validated heritage
Alta Wave’s design basis went through four separate validation programmes, with all results matching. That work is genuinely Alta’s, and it is also the foundation the Medi Wave 850H is built on.

On design values. The figures above describe a future unit. They are design values carried forward from validated scale work, not measurements taken from a full-scale Alta Wave platform.
On sequence. Alta Wave is not a parallel commercialization programme and does not draw on the resources committed to Medi Wave 850H. See how NoviOcean validates its technology →
Where each model belongs
Wave climate decides which platform suits a site. Medi Wave 850H is drawn for the moderate and high wave conditions found along most of the world’s coastlines, and it is the platform NoviOcean is building. Alta Wave covers the narrower, heavier band above it.
The bands are qualitative. Site selection for either platform depends on a measured wave climate, water depth, mooring conditions and the grid or load being served.
Alta Wave is where the design goes next. If you are looking at a site, a pilot or an investment today, Medi Wave 850H is the conversation.
